Okay, so we went to the doctor for the first time yesterday, and according to the baby's size I may have miscalculated how far along I am a little bit, so I've readjusted the headline going forward. Now we have a due date for May 8th!
The trip to the doctor started out kinda sucky, because although our appointment was at 3:45, we didn't get in to see the doctor for close to two hours. Another patient had gone into labor and was having a difficult delivery, so not only was one of the three doctors and a nurse out that afternoon, the remaining doctor, who was trying to see all the patients with appointments, kept getting phone calls from the delivery room and had to leave for the hospital at the end of the day. I didn't mind waiting though; for one thing I everyone at the doctors office was super nice, and I understand the situation, I mean, another patient had gone into labor! Those things aren't always planned. And we were gonna get to see our baby, so I was in a pretty upbeat mood anyway.
When they finished the preliminary exam and did the ultrasound, we got to see our little pinto bean! We could see the little flicker where the heart was beating, although the baby was too small for us to hear it yet. We could also barely make out a thin white line that was the spine, but at this age it was hard to distinguish which end was head and which was bum. It was an amazing little gray blob! I was alternately awestruck and giggling.
We got a picture of the ultrasound, although it's one of the blobbier images. I think you can kind of make out an arm--or a leg--and I'll post it as soon as we get it scanned.
